A tradition in the Wichita running community for 36 years, The Wichita Turkey Trot is the oldest continuously run race in the city.  Runners come from all around to participate, some of whom have run in all 36 races.  Many runners count on this race as a staple in their running calendar.  Another group that counts on the race is the Kansas Food Bank who benefits from the race each year as part of… Show more their holiday food drive.  This year we are building on those traditions by adding some exciting new elements while staying true to the legacy this race has in the community.
One of these new additions is that the Turkey Trot has added a "Break the Course Record" to the awards.  The current record time for the 10-mile race is 50:35 for men and 56:36 for women.  The current record time for the 2-mile is 9:11 for the men and 10:59 for the women.  A prize from GoRun is yours if you can beat those times!
The Turkey Trot continues to be a chip race .  This provides faster and more accurate results.  The starting time is 9:30 for both races and we will use the race routes from last year for ease of timing.
The first 2000 entrants will receive an original long-sleeved T-shirt in your size request while they last.  The finish line will be west of the Cowtown entrance and the refreshments, entertainment, awards, and door prizes will be dispensed in the Old Cowtown parking lot.  You must be present to win a door prize.
Remember to bring a plastic 18 oz. jar of peanut butter to assist the Kansas Food Bank in their holiday food drive.  Last year we collected 1338 pounds of peanut butter as donations for the Food Bank.  Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein with a longer shelf life and is a critical item in the Food Bank's pantry.
In-person registration can be completed at either Wichita GoRun locations:
2556 N. Maize Rd or 2350 N. Greenwich Rd from Oct 22nd through Nov 15th.

Packet pick-up can be made in the Old Cowtown parking lot Friday Nov. 16th from noon to 6:00 pm or the morning of the race starting at 7:30.  Registration closes 9:00 am day of the race.

Ten-Mile Race Awards
New this year in the 10-mile race, the first three male and first three female finishers will receive awards and gift certificates from GoRun in the amount of $100, $75 and $50 .  The top male and top female finisher in the age-graded Masters Division will each receive $50 .
The following awards are reserved for the top finishers in each age division.  The number of awards is based on participation by age division in the previous Turkey Trot race.

Two-Mile Race Awards
The high school, middle school, and elementary school with the most participants registered by November 12th will receive a traveling trophy for display in the school.   Participation medals will be presented to all competitors age 8 and under in the two-mile event.  Additional awards will be dispensed as follows:

15-17 .......... 3M, 3F
18-24 .......... 3M, 3F

The number of awards is determined by age and gender in the previous Turkey Trot race and is designated with an M for male runners and an F for female runners.
The Wichita Turkey Trot is USATF certified, a Run Wichita event,
RRCA sanctioned and a benefit to the Kansas Food Bank.
